Okemo Mountain Resort is going all out this Independence Day with
seven days of celebration, adventure, and fun for the whole
family! Check out the following announcement for the schedule of
events:
On Sunday, July 1, Wunderle's Big Top Adventure Circus is rolling
into town. The one-hour performance from three of the world's top
circus performers starts at 4 p.m. in the Jackson Gore Ice House.
The show features aerial acts with trapeze and fabric elements,
partner acrobatics, and comedy. Wunderle's Circus performers'
credentials include Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey,
Circus Smirkus and Cirque du Soleil. Circus fans may purchase
tickets online in advance for $12 for ages 13 and up, and $9 for
children 12 and under. Purchased at the door, tickets will be
priced at $15 and $12 respectively. Admission for children under
3 is free.
The Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series continues Friday evening,
July 6, with a performance by Erin Harpe & the Delta
Swingers. Erin has been hailed "an authentic blues chanteuse,"
earning a reputation for her raw style and accomplished
finger-picking guitar playing. Erin and her gang combine delta
soul with Boston's rich blues heritage. Admission to the concert
is free and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic
blankets. Concerts are held in Okemo's Jackson Gore Inn courtyard
every Friday evening throughout the summer. The music starts at 6
p.m. and dining options include an outdoor barbecue or
full-service al fresco dining at Coleman Brook Tavern.
On Saturday, July 7, Okemo wishes the U.S.A. a happy birthday
with its annual Red, White & Blues Festival. This
all-American concert features popular blues artists Lydia Warren
and the Dave Keller Band. Lydia Warren tours internationally from
Brooklyn to Beirut, whipping audiences into a frenzy at each
stop. A versatile singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer, the
Boston-based performer tours and records as a solo act and with
her band. The Lydia Warren Band has been nominated for a Boston
Music Award, appeared on NBC's Today Show and has released five
albums. Based in Montpelier, Vt., The Dave Keller Band's
reputation for dynamic, soul-stirring performances extends
throughout New England. Dave Keller is a singer/guitarist who has
forged a style uniquely his own - intense and soulful, gritty and
sweet. Like the best blues and soul men before him, Keller
learned his art firsthand from the blues masters. Admission to
Okemo's Red, White and Blues Festival is free and music fills the
air starting at noon. The lawn in the courtyard at Okemo's
Jackson Gore Inn becomes an outdoor concert venue for the special
occasion. Families are welcome, and all attendees are encouraged
to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. Okemo's culinary staff
will be serving frosty-cold beverages and fresh-from-the-grill
burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches and more. Concert-goers
can also opt for full-service dining with al fresco seating at
Jackson Gore's Coleman Brook Tavern.
The Jackson Gore courtyard offers plenty of room to kick off
those shoes and dance on the lawn, or to toss a ball or a Frisbee
back and forth. Okemo's Adventure Zone will be open with plenty
of heart-pounding activities including the Timber Ripper Mountain
Coaster, a roller-coaster-like ride where riders control the
speed. There's trampoline bungee jumping, miniature golf, disc
golf, a climbing pinnacle, a slackline, the Amp Energy Big Air
Bag, a giant inflatable pillow like Hollywood stuntmen use. Okemo
is also slated to open its new zipline tour on Julky 7. This
high-flying, two-hour, guided treetop tour books early, so
reservations are recommended. Okemo's Adventure Zone is open
daily in July and August.
